WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF PLANTAR FASCIITIS? Symptoms of plantar fasciitis can of course vary from patient to patient but commonly patients report: Pain in the heel on standing after resting Stabbing pain sometimes radiating into the arch Pain which can often ease after a few minutes of walking
WHAT ARE THE MAIN TREATMENTS? Your Foot Health Practitioner will begin by confirming the diagnosis of plantar fasciitis as there are many other conditions which can appear similar. Once confirmed the usual treatment plan includes: 1. Identification of any muscle tendon tightness 2. Creation of a bespoke stretching / rehabilitation programme 3. Prescription of foot orthoses where appropriate to control abnormal foot function
I HAVE HAD THIS FOR MANY MONTHS, WILL I NOW HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE PAIN FOREVER? The medical evidence does suggest that the longer you have had the condition, the longer it will take to improve. However, this does not mean your foot pain cannot be cured. Your Foot Health Practitioner will carefully assess your feet and explain the treatment goals and timescales. Most people can expect some reduction in pain within one to two weeks. A full cure may require several weeks of intensive treatment.
